Last year a retired Christian elementary school teacher, Rose Apilado from Canada, while in Malawi, Central Africa, visiting friends, saw a tremendous education need so started a school --Liwonde New Hope Community School --with 19 Christian and Muslim children ages 5-6 years of age. She had 1 assistant. She is returning again this year at her expense and another grade will be added each year until eventually the school will be up to Grade 8--children 13-14 years of age. The school is under the sponsorship of a Malawian denomination, the Evangelical Baptist Church of Malawi. Rose is praying she will find other Christian teachers or schools--teaching materials, pens, pencils etc able to help her in this endeavour.
