Will Tories make UNI cheaper?

The Tory youth vote has gone south and the party desperately needs a way to lift it.

The premium for being a graduate has dropped as the costs ramped up. Does that mean we can go ahead with a clear conscience and pay the bribe for the youth vote with a clear conscience? Yes, probably.

But could you make University cheaper – or even free – to young people, and still be a real Tory? Could the country possibly afford to pay for young people to go to University? And even if it could afford it, what sort of education should taxpayers be willing to pay for? 

Let’s ask what Maggie’s Nobel Prize winning, free-market-preaching, economics guru Milton Friedman might have said.
